Oh, student life! It’s been a hectic few weeks of little sleep and lots of work, getting everything ready for assessments, tutorials and presentations. All over now, I’m officially on holidays! Still busy with some very exciting projects for the new year I will definitely make time for good food & drinks, good times with my dearest and nearest and maybe a bit of travelling if I get lucky.

I wanted to share this illustration of my all time hero Wanda Jackson that I did a while ago for an interview with designer Cléo Ferin-Mercury for Amelia’s Magazine. Cléo, who also studied at LCC and graduated from BA Surface Design a couple of years ago, designed a beautiful range of silk scarves inspired by her 6 female icons. I also spent a lot of time at the V&A this term: researching the treasures at the National Art Library there, visiting the amazing Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes exhibition (remind me to post my sketches, I was blown away by Picasso’s work for the ballet), attending many Friday lates and lots of general wandering around. There is something special about the V&A that makes every visit a bit life changing.

On my last visit I discovered a gem of another kind. Conveniently on the way from the tube station the V&A have recently opened a lovely book shop/cafe: the Reading Rooms and while not as charming as the museum’s own tea rooms it’s definitely cheaper and not as busy. Perfect to have a cup of tea or some wine after a visit to the museum and be tempted by the beautiful books, it’s so friendly in there. I love the way they display their second hand books:
